The Short Story Competition which took place during this year’s successful Mere Literary Festival, attracted 170 entries, from as far away as New Zealand. The competition was something of a writing sprint – the challenge being to produce a story of 350 words in one week. The finalists were chosen by a panel of readers. Novelist James Long made the final selection. James was the guest speaker at the Awards Ceremony held on the Sunday, the finale event.
