From The West Wiltshire District Guide 1978:
The delightful village of Horningsham is found just south and adjacent to Longleat Park. The village possesses many thatched cottages pleasantly spaced at intervals throughout the length and breadth of the village boundary.
The great feature of interest is the beautiful little Congregational Chapel. This building – often referred to as The Old Meeting House – was built in 1566 as a plaque on the wall tells us. Of rough brickwork with stone mullions, the chapel is unusual in possessing a thatched roof and unique in being the oldest non-conformist place of worship in England.
