West Wilts Golf Club, Warminster

From The West Wiltshire District Guide 1978:

The beautiful course of the West Wilts Golf Club is at Arn Hill Down overlooking Warminster. The eighteen holes were laid out in 1891 under the direction of the famous professional, Johnnie Taylor, and have been steadily improved over the years. Golfers can enjoy not only an excellent game but also striking views of the surrounding countryside far into Somerset. In summer, even on the most stifling days, one can find a cool breeze at West Wilts. It is possibly the breeze that makes the course a test of golf, for there are few artificial hazards. It is, however, surprisingly difficult to get par figures at the five short holes. The “nineteenth hole” is, however, one of the best in the West Country and excellent meals and refreshments can be enjoyed in the most amenable surroundings.
