Regency Arcade At East Street, Warminster

Mr. A.C. Halliday in his notes on Warminster and the surrounding villages, penned in the 1980s, in a hard-bound notebook (now in the possession of Danny Howell), wrote:

East Street. Ray’s (hairdresser) was part of a large coachbuilder’s premises till taken over by the Army in 1914 as a theatre. See plaque in junk shop behind. Back of Ray’s is original wall. A well found in the corner is one of six wells in these premises. The floor started giving till filled in when the road was being remade. A river [sic] running below. Old blue cobbles still under the concrete of Ray’s and the alleyway right up to the coachworks. – Information supplied by Ray.
