Dear Parents and Guardians,

School Closure Strike Action on Thursday 17th October 2013.

As you will be aware from the media, the main teachers’ trade unions will be taking industrial action in the south west of England on the Thursday 17th October 2013. The action (a one day strike) will result in class or whole school closures across the region.

We are aware that school closures inconvenience parents and carers, but I now have confirmation that a significant number of our teachers will be involved in the action and we have decided to close the school to students on this day. The decision to close the school is never taken lightly, but in this instance, where staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, I have no choice but to take appropriate steps to ensure the health, safety and well being of students.

The school will be open as normal on Friday 18th October. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like more information.

Yours sincerely,
Sara Edwards.
Headteacher.
