Horningsham. Garden Party.
On Monday afternoon there was a large and very pleasant gathering in the Vicarage grounds, the object being to raise funds for the re-flooring of the parish church.
At half past five tea was provided on the lawn, when about 250 persons attended. A sale of work was afterwards held, and the proceeds amounted to about £5.
In the evening, an al fresco concert was given and was greatly enjoyed by a large gathering. The ladies and gentlemen taking part included the Rev. J.F. Welsh (Warminster), Rev. W. Jacob, Rev. R. Powley, Capt. and Mr. Aylmer, Mrs. Jeans, Miss Jacob, Mr. J.F.N. Glass, Mr. J.A. Jacob, Mr. Philip, &c.
During the proceedings, short addresses were given by Canon Jacob and the Rev. C.G. Doyne (Rector of Branksome.)
The village drum and fife band played on the lawn during the afternoon. The proceedings were of a very successful character.
