From Richard Dombkowski to Danny Howell, following on from the funeral that day of Richard’s mother Gwen (at St. John’s Church, Warminster):
Hi Danny, a very sad day for our family, thank you so much for coming to the church.
Danny Howell, in reply to Richard:
Hello Richard. Thank you for your message. I hope, despite the circumstances, that you are well. I came to the funeral, like others, to show love and support for you, Janet, Paula, Katrina, Stephen and Nick, on what can never be the happiest of occasions. Several people said how poignant it was to see you all in a line beside the grave. I did have a brief chat with Janet before the service and I had a very long chat with Nick when I bumped into him on Monday afternoon. I liked your mum very much. She was very down-to-earth and always pleasant to me, always referring to me by my name and always seeming to highlight the funny side of any situation or story. You should feel glad that your mum was the lovely person she was. She lived to a very good old age and of course none of us can avoid death. No one gets out alive. Your mum may be gone physically but we never forget the people we truly loved. If you need to talk about anything, or just want company, or a change of local scenery, you know where I am. Take care of yourself. Dan. xx

Message from Nick Dombkowski:
Love Dan. Such a man of knowledge and a memory bank. A complete encyclopaedia and synopsis of so many people he has met over the years, with so many funny stories and situations to tell of them. x
