Professor Nigel Leslie Brown, FRSE, from Chapmanslade, Wiltshire, has been made an MBE in the New Year Honours 2014, in recognition of his work. Professor Brown is one of the UK’s leading microbiology academics. He is the President of the Society for General Microbiology, and the Emeritus Professor of Molecular Microbiology at the University of Edinburgh. His award is for services to Science.Â
