A lorry driver, who is belived to have had a heart attack, collapsed and died outside the Co-op in Mere on 19th October 2015. Passers-by tried to resuscitate him but their efforts were in vain. Mere has two defibrillators: one near the school and one at the Butt Of Sherry.
