Although the quarries and plants are outside the town the firm is a very important source of employment for Frome as well as for the surrounding district. Bus services are provided by the Wilts and Dorset; Bristol and Western National Companies.
Wilts and Dorset Motor Services Ltd., (Time-tables 10p from the company offices at Endless Street, Salisbury) work the following routes:-
Service 23 Warminster – Sutton Veny. Once daily each way.
Service 24 Trowbridge – Westbury – Warminster – Codford – Salisbury. Every hour weekdays, less frequent on Sundays.
The Bristol Omnibus Co. Ltd., (Time-tables 10p from the company offices at St. Augustine’s Place, Bristol) work the following routes:-
Service 241. This route is the same as Wilts and Dorset service 24 which is interworked.
Service 248. Warminster – Chapmanslade – Westbury – Trowbridge (not Sundays).
Service 248. Trowbridge – Westbury – Chapmanslade – Warminster – Mere – Gillingham – Shaftesbury (Tuesdays and Saturdays only).
Service 248. Warminster – Crockerton – Longbridge Deverill (once each way on Wednesdays only).
Service 253. Warminster – Corsley – Frome – Norton St. Philip – Limpley Stoke – Bath (daily).
Service 254. Warminster – Corsley – Frome – Norton St. Philip – Midford – Bath (daily).
Service 256. Warminster – Chapmanslade – Frome (not Sundays).
Messrs. Cruse of Warminster also work a regular service from Warminster via Crockerton to the Deverill Valley villages.
Messrs. Cards of Devizes operate regular services from Warminster to Chitterne via Sutton Veny, Tytherington and Codford.
Associated Motorways Express Coach Services operate to and from Warminster. There are daily services throughout the year from and to – Bath and Bristol, South Wales, Portsmouth and Bournemouth and Cheltenham, with connections to all parts of the Midlands, Lancashire, Yorkshire and East Anglia.
