John Halliday, writing in about 1810, says the an inn called The Hare was in existence in 1740, and gives it location at High Street, Warminster, on the south side of the road, below the Angel inn which was on the brow of the hill.

There was at one time an inn at the High Street in Warminster called The Hare. There is no record of the Hare in theĀ 1801 Survey of Warminster, so it must have gone out of business prior to then.
