Mr. I.L. Collis has submitted a planning appication to West Wiltshire District Council to build a four-bedroom house with a double garage at The Bungalow, 3a Bishopstrow Road, Warminster.
From The Warminster Herald, Saturday 5th January 1878:
Monthly meeting of the Warminster Local Board, held on Friday 4th January 1878 –
“On the motion of Mr. Bleeck, seconded by Mr. Barnden, it was resolved (if permission of the County Surveyor could be obtained, and supposing the County Surveyor would not himself do the work), the Board put a stone crossing on the road at Boreham from Bevan’s Lane to the Bishopstrow Road. Such a crossing, it was forcibly argued, was much needed.”
Danny Howell writes [2023]: “This was referring to a crossing for the area we now call Boreham Crossroads. Bevan’s Lane was the track leading north from the crossroads – this part of Bevan’s Lane is now occupied by the southern end of what is now Woodcock Road. Also facing the crossroads was the entrance to Boreham Farm. Mrs. Mary Christie Bevan is listed as the farmer at Boreham Farm, in the Boreham commercial entries of the Post Office Directory 1875.”
