The Founders Of Thoulstone Park

Wednesday 19th November 2025

A message from Thoulstone Park:

Meet the founders of Thoulstone Park

James and Alka have poured their hearts into transforming what was once a derelict golf course into a thriving eco community space for all.

James is incredibly passionate and has always felt a strong connection to nature. As a child he was nicknamed Percy after the famous gardener Percy Thrower, thanks to the countless hours he spent in the garden with his mum. No surprise that Thoulstone Park now feels like a slightly bigger garden for him to tend to.

Alka is resourceful and thoughtful, with a love for restoring old things and giving them new life. She sees beauty in repair and renewal, and her eye for detail and creativity brings so much heart to the project. Her background as an entrepreneur and her dedication as a mother of four shine through in everything she does here.

They each bring their own gifts to the land and to the community growing around it.

Follow along as we spotlight more of the wonderful team behind the incredible businesses at Thoulstone Park.

Councillor Parks Gets The Message – Many Local Objections To A Premises Licence For Thoulstone Park

Saturday 29th July 2023

Councillor Bill Parks, Warminster North And Rural, writes:

A busy time this week when I attended Upton Scudamore and Chapmanslade Parish Council meetings to listen to the many local objections to the recent application for a Premises Licence for Thoulstone Park, near Warminster.

I was also pleased to meet with the residents in Short Street, nearby, who are most likely to be affected. As their local Wiltshire Councillor, it is important that I listen and represent the people.

The public consultation date has now passed, and I understand that the license is to be determined by the Licensing Committee at County Hall on the August 15th, which I will attend.

Let’s hope that sense prevails and that a clearer understanding of event numbers, type and hours of operation reach a sensible compromise which satisfies the genuine worries of noise disturbance to the nearby communities.

The messages given were all loud and clear!

Thoulstone

The chapter on Upton Scudamore in A History Of The County Of Wiltshire, Volume 8, Warminster, Westbury And Whorwellsdown Hundreds, originally published by Victoria County History, 1965, mentions Thoulstone:

Thoulstone had 22 poll-tax payers in 1377. In 1428 it had fewer than ten households, and in the later 16th century there were about seven houses there.  By 1807 there were only three farms; one, the Breach Farm, which lay south of the sharp bend in the road, has since disappeared. Of the other two, that south of the road is a large brick building of the late 18th century, while the one on the other side displays the Gothic taste of a few years later.
