Wednesday 7th April 1993

The handbell team from Corsley School rang themselves to victory at the Mid-Somerset Festival held in Bath, winning the Linley Trophy. Conducted by Mrs. Barbara Giessler, they played Golden Slumbers and also gave a demonstration of ‘lapping’ which is when the ringers pass the bells to one another. The young handbell players were Emma Brown, Claire Godfrey, Katie Godfrey, Gillian Lockhart, Catherine Miller, Tessa Rutty, Lucy Taylor, and Hannah West. Their ages range from 9 to 11 years. Afterwards, Corsley headteacher Mrs. Linn Tedman said she was very proud of them.
