Lush. William Henry Lush, Prospect House, Market Lavington; son of the late Edward Lush, of Warminster; born at Warminster, in 1850; educated at Queenwood College, Hants, and St. Thomas’s Hospital, London; M.R.C.S. Eng. Was articled to Messrs. Hitchcock and Pepler, of Market Lavington, and after qualifying in London returned to Market Lavington and on the retirement of Dr. Hitchcock, in 1877, joined his brother, Mr. John Selfe Lush, in partnership, and took over the practice which has been continued up to the present time; his brother is Medical Officer of the district, and he holds the office of Public Vaccinator, and other appointments; has been a keen sportsman since his youth; fond of shooting, and hunting, chiefly with the Duke of Beaufort’s, the South West Wilts, and the Tedworth Hounds. Married Catherine, daughter of the late Thomas Sargent, of 82, Porchester Terrace, London, W. (formerly Secretary to the Board of Inland Revenue at Somerset House).

Shorland. Ernest Trevor Shorland, Westfield, Westbury; son of E.P. Shorland, born at Westbury, March 31st, 1872; educated at Marlborough College, and Guy;s Hospital; M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P.; Medical Officer to the Cottage Hospital, Westbury, and to several clubs; late House Surgeon at Guy’s Hospital, and Medical Officer to the 1st Batt. Imperial Yeomanry, in South Africa. Queen’s Medal and four clasps; served in the 1st Wilts V.R.C. for three years, as Officer Commanding G Company; holds hon. rank of Captain in the Army; member of the Wilts County Cricket Club, and played for the county for several years.

Frederick Isaac Flower, Ivy House, Warminster; son of the late Isaac Flower, of Codford St. Peter, Wilts; born at Codford St. Peter, August 1st, 1842; educated at Queenwood College, Hampshire, and Middlesex Hospital; M.R.C.S. Eng., 1865, L.S.A. 1864. Medical Officer of Health, Warminster Urban Rural Distrct; Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator to Warminster and Corsley District and Workhouse, Warminster Union; Surgeon to the County Police, Warminster; certified Factory Surgeon. Married Eva Henrietta, daughter of William Lush, of Fyfield House, Andover, and has issue one son, Arthur Isaac, who served in the Wilts Imperial Yeomanry in the Boer war, and three daughters.

Hammond Tooke Hinton, Heytesbury; son of Joseph Hinton, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., of Batheaston, formerly of Warminster; born at Hinton Charterhouse, May 17th, 1867; educated at Berkhampstead, Aberdeen University, and Guy’s Hospital; M.B., C.M. Union Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator, Heytesbury district, Warminster Union; Member of the British Medical Association; Medical Officer to Hungerford Hospital; Certifying Factory Surgeon; Medical Officer to the Post Office, Heytesbury, and Upton Lovell districts; Medical Referee Prudential Assurance Company. Recreations: football, hockey, cricket, and rose growing. Married Constance, daughter of the late Robert Edward Lingen-Burton, B.A., of Shrawardine Castle, near Shrewsbury, and has issue two sons, Robert Joseph, and James Edward Alban.

The Minster, Warminster. It reads:

Of Elizabeth Harris
Who Left This Life 17 January 1906
Aged 71 After Having Devoted 36
Years Most Lovingly To The Care Of
The Fatherless & Motherless Boys Of
The Orphanage Of Pity, Warminster.
This Tablet Is Placed By The Orphans And Others.”

This time-honoured institution starts again with the beginning of December, at the usual places, viz., at Miss Davis’s, Bell Hill, on Tuesdays, and at the Mission School, South Street, on Fridays. Subscriptions in aid of the above and gifts of vegetables will be gratefully received by the Vicar.
