Martin Read Banned From Spotted In Warminster Town

Sunday 12th May 2024

A message from the Admin Team of the Spotted In Warminster Town Facebook page:

We are writing this post further to seeing what we can only describe as wholly unacceptable and disgraceful comments made by Martin Read on a earlier post.

We have now blocked and banned Martin Read from our page.

We do not tolerate our page being used in that way.

We want to make our page more positive and reduce down on the negative posts and comments on our page.

If you send in a post or publish a comment which our admin team deem to be of a negative nature we will not publish it and if necessary we reserve the right to pass it on to relevant local authorities including the police or local council and further legal action would be pursued.

We unfortunately can’t monitor every post and so we really need your help to achieve this, if you spot anything of a negative nature on our page, please message in to us admin and we will endeavour to remove it as soon as we can and if necessary take further action.

Please help us to keep our page nice and friendly.

We want to deliver a local community page for you, the local community of Warminster, which all visitors to our page can enjoy visiting and a page which is a useful local resource for local news, events and information.

Thank you and best wishes from the admin team.

Heart Of Warminster Reviewer Uses The Word “Vile”

Monday 1st April 2024

The latest review for Heart Of Warminster on their Facebook page is from Taiyler-Louise Lyal. She doesn’t recommend the Heart Of Warminster page. She writes:

“A page that likes to joke about serious topics and then not take responsibility for anyone’s distress. I can only imagine it’s being run by people old enough to know better making it 10000x worse. Vile.”

Heart Of Warminster has published 17 reviews of its page since it was established. When complimentary comments are made, Heart of Warminster, usually respond with “Thank you.” The admins of Heart Of Warminster, George Rich and Lesley Blain, have not publicly responded to the comment from Taiyler-Louise Lyal.

Warminster & District Memories Facebook Page – Update

Thursday 20th January 2022

Keith Rattray has updated the details for the Warminster & District Memories Facebook page:

Well done everyone who has taken the time to join us and post their cherished memories, the quality of posting has more than upheld the good name of our original website and just shows how much affection we attach to our old memories, wherever we are in the world, made even better by the ability to share them with family & friends on a like minded open community group with currently 3.7k members and growing!

Our old website http://www.warminster-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php which ran for over 10 years (now archived) was good going for a fledgling Warminster IT community,

In 2005 when the forum started the only local website was Danny Howell’s town page and the mighty Facebook was a fledgling new idea site hardly known or rated. The old Warminster Forum will remain as an Read Only site for the forseeable future out of respect to all those who posted over the years

If you are trying to join the Group and are declined then it is most likely because myself or Cathy King cannot see any mention of a Warminster connection or link to Warminster in your Facebook profile or any existing group member on your profile.

Please do not post non personal, current news clippings and printed photographs from papers such as the Warminster Journal, if your family or self are in a Journal article and it is a very old dated article and relevant to your family history then we will allow it but reserve the right to remove it should we need to.

Please do not post any photos from local publications by historians such as Danny Howell.

Please also do not post current affairs or adverts ( these will be deleted without further warning)

And finally after reading the many posts and hearing how we all remember loved ones, and finding there is no local site to express Remembrance , we welcome Memoriam from family members.

I have also started a seperate “IN MEMORIAM ” group group to allow repectful remembrance of family and friends, originating from or having lived or worked in Warminster, and who are no longer with us

https://m.facebook.com/groups/233923960367139?ref=share

Hopefully it will not be seen as tacky and I had thought of making it a Page but that would not allow you to interact as easily as we do on groups.

The memoriam group will be moderated to ensure it remains a memoriam.

Paper Outlines Proposal For A Website To Promote Activities Of Warminster And Two Neighbouring Towns

Tuesday 4th December 2012

The Meeting of the Enterprise Warminster group, held on Tuesday 4th December 2012, at Warminster Civic Centre, discussed the idea of promoting the activities of Warminster and two neighbouring towns, together on one website.

Councillor Robert Fryer (who is also the Mayor of Warminster) has produced a brief paper, outlining such a proposal, suggesting the three towns involved are Warminster, Frome and Tisbury. The paper gives a provisional list of activities currently available in Warminster. Taster sessions could be offered to encourage residents and tourists to attend.

However, the Enterprise Warminster group feels that Warminster, Westbury and Frome would be a better combination in terms of geographical proximity, and suggests too that Warminster could set up a site on its own. The funding of the taster sessions was also of concern. Enterprise Warminster says groups may be more inclined to offer sessions to residents who may take up membership but less likely to want to discount sessions for tourists who would afterwards move on.

Further consideration, it was felt, would need to be given on how to operate the proposed venture, but it was agreed that it would be beneficial for a page to be added to the Warminster Information Centre’s website advertising the activities that are available in the area. Michael Mounde was asked to initiate this, and he and Rob Fryer will compile a more comprehensive list.
