From the late 1960s to the present decade (1990s), local people have often referred to Primrose Lane (the footpath connecting Weymouth Street with Sambourne Road, Warminster) as ‘Shitting Alley Lane’. This nickname arose from the amount of dog’s mess that was often to be seen along the path, thanks to dog walkers not clearing up after their dogs had defecated.
