Smart’s Scrapyard At Station Road, Warminster, July 1941

Photograph showing the scrap-metal yard of
F.S. Smart, junior, at Station Road, Warminster,
during the end of July 1941.

During the Second World War Mr. Smart broke
up thousands of tons of old machinery and
vehicles for the war effort.

This view looks north-east and shows Mr. Week’s
cafe in the background (opposite Warminster
Railway Station), with Copheap just visible in the
top left corner of the picture.
