Writing in 1930, Victor Strode Manley, as part of his Regional Survey Of Warminster And District, made the following note concerning Monkton Deverill:
“The small church” which does not seem to have a known dedication, “which was restored in 1852, and rebuilt with the exception of the tower, has a plain Norman font. The carved panels of the pulpit representing Old Testament scenes are noticeable.” (Heath).
