Writing in 1928, Victor Strode Manley, as part of his Regional Survey Of Warminster And District, made the following note concerning Upton Scudamore:
The Scudamores secured by charter (13th century?) a market every Thursday, and a fair on the vigel, feast and morrow of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin (September 8th), in whose honour the church is dedicated. (v. Miss Noyes – ‘Salisbury Plain’, 1913).
