West Lavington Parish Council Discussion About The Robber Stone

Thursday 7th September 2017

From the minutes of the Annual Meeting of West Lavington Parish Council, held on Thursday 7th September 2017:

17/18/164. Mr Blundell has sought, without success, advice from several organisations concerning permission needed to move the stone to a more accessible place. This would enable people to visit it without incurring personal danger. Keith Potter of West Lavington and manager of Collins Farm is willing to ensure the physical movement of the stone, and the MOD has agreed to the move onto their land. A letter needs to be drafted to English Heritage to request its permission. Clerk to draft and send.

Biggin Hill Bell At West Lavington

HOUSES AND ALE
From Ushers Guide To The West

BATTLE OF BRITAIN BELL
From Edington it is a grand switch-back road to West Lavington where one can turn right on to the Devizes-Salisbury road, to find, at the bottom of the hill, the Bridge, which is a pub in the true pub tradition, friendly, and homely – and when the landlord regrettably has to call “Time” – he rings it out on a bell that comes from the Battle of Britain fighter station at Biggin Hill!
