Just east of the Swan public house at Stoford,
adjacent the A36 road, in the Wylye Valley, is a cast iron milepost.
It features the legend:
“Salisbury 6 Warminster 14”

These mileposts feature the inscriptions:
“C&M” for Carson & Miller, ironfounders, and “W”
for Warminster, where Carson & Miller operated their
Wiltshire Foundry, at Carson’s Yard, off East Street.
The mileposts also feature the inscribed date of 1832.
