Kingston Deverill Choir Children’s Supper

From The Parish Magazine, February 1902:

Kingston Deverill – On Wednesday evening, January 22nd [1902], the younger members of the choir met at the Rectory for supper at the kind invitation of Mr. and Mrs. Mather. After supper the Rector thanked Mr. and Mrs. Mather on behalf of the children for so kindly entertaining them, and proceeded to give a statement of the work of the choir during the past year.

The sums obtained by the children were then distributed and were as follows:-

Albert Carey, 15s. 7d.;
Sidney Carey, 16s. 2d.;
Godfrey Poolman, 10s. 11d.;
Walter Sturgis, 4s. 5d.;
Percy Carey, 8s. 6d.;
Percy Dunford, 4s.;
Sidney Penny, 3s. 9d.;
Willie Day, 2s. 8½d,;
Tom Wootton, 2s. 9½d,;
Kate Marshall, 6s. 6d.;

Beatrice Fletcher, 5s. 2½d.;
Emma Meaden, 4s.;
Annie Day, 3s. 10½d.;

Edwin Poolman, 15s. 2d.

Mr. Mather presented the boys with a pencil case, and Mrs. Mather, who we regret to say was unable to be present, sent the girls a red necktie to match the choir hats.

The rest of the evening was devoted to various games and a very enjoyable time was spent.

It should be stated that in addition to the above sums the head boy of the choir, Albert Carey, received an extra gift of 5s.; and the two second boys, Godfrey Poolman and Sidney Carey, 2s. 6d. each, as a slight recognition of their merit and the help they give with the music, surplices, &c.
