Upper Wylye Team Ministry Men’s Fellowship Breakfast At Bishopstrow House Hotel

The Men’s Fellowship Breakfast, organised by the Upper Wylye Team Ministry, meets again at Bishopstrow House Hotel, on Monday 12th January 2015. The guest speaker will be Oliver Chamberlain, QVRM, TD, DL, who is the Chairman of the SW Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (was TAVRA) and until recently the Honorary Colonel of the Royal Wessex Yeomanry Squadrons. He is also a Land Agent and Surveyor in Dorset. He will talk about the Royal Wessex Yeomanry and the prospects for the Future Reserves 2020 re-organisation. The arrangements are as before, with the breakfast starting at 8.15 a.m. The cost is £10 per person, of which £2 goes to a Charity of the Speaker’s choice. The inscription reads: In loving memory of John Robert Cox who fell asleep 25:Dec:1899 aged 56 years. 

John Robert Cox farmed Bishopstrow Farm.

Gravestone Of Harriet And Herbert Legg At Bishopstrow

The gravestone of Harriet and Herbert Percival Legg, at St. Aldhelm’s Churchyard, Bishopstrow. It reads: “In ever loving memory of Harriet May Legg, Died 13th August 1953, aged 69 years. Also of her beloved husband Herbert Percival Legg, re-united 16th April 1956, aged 72. Rest in Peace.”

The inscription reads: In Loving Memory of Thomas Frederick Heath who died 22nd Oct. 1881, Aged 38 Years. Also of Edith, his Wife, who died 20th March 1913, Aged 70 Years. “In perfect peace.”

Madeline Elizabeth. 5.4.1892 ~ 3.3.1985. Requiescrat in Pace.

A Faithful Servant On The Bishopstrow Estate

A gravestone in St. Aldhelm’s Churchyard, Bishopstrow,

Only the first five lines of the inscription survive:

William Willett,
of Bishopstrow,
Died 10th March 1895, aged 57.
He was for many years a faithful
servant on the Bishopstrow Estate.

The rest of William Willett’s epitaph is now missing,
the stonework having weathered and fallen off.
