Improvement Works Start Soon At Warminster Sports Centre

Thursday 10th October 2024

Press release from Warminster Town Council:

Wiltshire Council has confirmed work to improve the fitness facilities at Warminster Sports Centre in Woodcock Road will be getting underway soon.

Beard Construction has been appointed by Wiltshire Council to carry out the works, which are to be completed in Spring 2025.

The current gym will remain in use while the new gym is being constructed and there will be no change to access to the swimming pool or changing facilities.

The exact date of the start of the works will be confirmed soon, Wiltshire Council say but construction work will start in late October/early November.

Changes include:

• Relocated, enlarged and improved fitness suite, making it much more accessible

• A refurbished studio

• The old fitness suite converted to flexible community space

• A consultation room

The exact date of the start of the works will be confirmed soon, Wiltshire Council say.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “I am pleased to confirm more details on the significant improvements to Warminster Sports Centre, which will make the fitness facilities more modern and accessible and will encourage more people of all ages to access them.

“The plans for Warminster Sports Centre have been well informed by evidence that shows there is demand for the enhanced facilities we will be providing. We have the unique responsibility to not only ensure this type of project is a viable commercial venture, but to also serve our communities and ensure their health and wellbeing is well supported.

“This investment, and the work we’re carrying out at some of our other leisure centres, meets all those needs and criteria, and we’re looking forward to the positive impact they will have.

“We thank our loyal customers for their patience while these works are carried out, and we assure that any disruption during this period will be well worth it come the end result.”

There will be some disruption to group exercise classes during the project, with fewer classes available and classes being relocated to the main sports hall – but there will be more classes at Leighton Recreation Centre in Westbury to offset this. Wiltshire Council say it is contacting leisure members and customers directly about this.

As previously confirmed, the squash courts will be permanently removed at Warminster Sports Centre as a result of these works with customers encouraged to use the facilities at Leighton Recreation Centre.

Regular updates on the works will be available at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/leisure/warminster-improvements.

Warminster Town Councillors previously welcomed the £1 million investment in Warminster Sports Centre from Wiltshire Council.

A Warminster Town Council spokesperson said: “We are pleased to hear that work will be beginning soon and we will continue to share updates on the progress to keep residents informed.”

Ear To Clear Opens Tomorrow At George Street, Warminster

Sunday 11th August 2024

Ear To Clear will open for business at 16 George Street, Warminster, tomorrow – Monday 12th August 2024.

Holly and Tish write:

We’ve finally made it!! The final hurdle . . . there really has been blood, sweat and tears. But we will be finally open for business in our new clinic in George Street as of tomorrow.

Unfortunately, due to Tish being 37 weeks pregnant our appointments will be slightly limited to begin with. But as soon as baby is settled we will be able to offer a wider range of appointments.

A little about us.. we are both registered nurses and qualified together in 2013. We both still work part time within the NHS but started this little venture in 2021 when most of the local GP practices stopped offering ear wax removal on the NHS and locally there was only one place offering this service with a 8 month waiting list! We started our business travelling to clients homes, then set up a clinic in a garden room in Warminster and a clinic in Frome. With the help from Wiltshire’s Vibrant Grant scheme we were able to take our business on its most recent journey onto Warminster’s High Street (well George Street, but close enough)!

We are truly so grateful to all our friends and family who have helped and supported us on this journey! Vibrant grants- as without their financial support this wouldn’t have been possible. But most importantly the people who have used our service, recommended us to others and really helped us to create a service we are very proud of!

Please note- We are an appointment only clinic, so please please ensure you have an appointment before coming as we will be unable to accept walk ins!

More information on what we offer can be found on our website:

P.S. have a look at our google reviews (there’s plenty).

We cannot wait to welcome anyone needing our services soon.

Thank you, truly, Holly & Tish.

Come and join us on Saturday 10th August 2024, 10 am to 12 noon, for a cuppa and a slice of cake to celebrate the re-design of the community garden at Bradley Road, Warminster.

The garden ALWAYS needs more volunteers – we are an inclusive and friendly group and everyone is welcome regardless of ability or commitment.

So, if you want to grow with us, benefit your physical and mental health, or just be a small part of a supportive community, have a chat with one of our volunteers.
