A correspondent, using the name ‘Flooded’ writes:
“With regard the comments made by people in the West Ward of Warminster, suggesting the East Ward could take an equal number of houses in future developments, it is a shame people aren’t able to use facts to base their arguments on.”
“East Warminster only has 10 hectares of available housing land. If you use the same density equation as used in the west of 12 properties per hectare there is only room for 120 properties and once these are built there is no buffer, no floodplain, no leisure facilities left to build over.”
“West Warminster has 84 hectares available in one site; this does not include the buffer provided by Grovelands, Dorothy walk, Bath Road, etc., all providing community facilities and leisure opportunities.”
“If you want balanced development, try taking a huge noisy business like a military camp as your neighbour with upwards of 17,000 troops using the facilities each year, add to this a large 1,500 pupil school and all the shopping facilities for the community as currently housed by the east.”
“Try suggesting something physically possible and maybe it could happen but unless you persuade the military to leave there is no room in the east to build enough houses.”
