Warminster Community Radio Presenter Tina Randall Has Died

Friday 5th December 2025

Sad news from Warminster Community Radio:

We are heartbroken to hear that our friend and fellow volunteer Tina Randall has died following a short illness.

Tina and her family were WCR listeners from the very first broadcast back in 1996. She was a regular competitor on Challenge Night. Then in 2013, Tina decided to train as a presenter and she hosted the Thursday 5pm to 7pm programme for the last 12 years. We know that listeners enjoyed her easy listening music mixed with friendly chat and her weekly book review – Tina was an avid reader.

All of us at WCR send our condolences to Tina’s husband, children and grandchildren.

Tina embodied WCR’s values. She was a friend to so many both on and off the radio. We will miss her terribly.

In Memory Of John Rich

Saturday 11th October 2025

From The Warminster Carnival 2025 Programme:

In memory of John Rich
Sadly in August our Vice Chairman passed away. John had been a member of the Warminster Carnival Committee for over 30 years. He was still our Vice Chairman. John had joined as his partner (Pam Mitchell) was the Secretary on the Committee (until her passing in 2022).

John already was the Vice Chairman of the Committee but took on the role of Minute Secretary.

Many will have known John as the quiet gentleman that handed out the buckets on Carnival night for those who volunteer to collect for the Carnival, again a role he still had.

John will be sadly missed by the Carnival Committee and all who knew him.

The Passing Of The Former Wiltshire County Archivist Ken Rogers

Thursday 30th January 2025

From the Facebook page of Parade House, Trowbridge:

We are so saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend Ken Rogers, Wiltshire County Archivist for 50 out of his 70 years service and such an inspiration to all who knew him and great loss to Trowbridge.

He celebrated his life’s work last year at a party at Parade House, surrounded by friends, family and former colleagues from the History Centre, The Wiltshire Records Office, The Civic Society and many other heritage organisations that had the honour of working alongside him. He wrote countless books on the buildings and history of Trowbridge, the surrounding areas and its inhabitants, the woollen mills and the rich heritage of the cloth industry, and at 94 years old and despite being almost blind and completely infirm, his mind was as sharp as ever and he was able to discuss dates and facts in incredible detail. In fact, Ken was still in the process of writing another two books before he passed away quietly on Sunday.

Ken donated many personal historical artefacts to Parade House for display, and he was particularly pleased that the house had been saved by us from near dereliction. At our regular visits he would often say that when he died, any autopsy would reveal the word “Trowbridge” tattooed on his heart.

We will miss you dear Ken but your legacy will live on . . . .

Lucas Rennie To Climb Scafell Pike

Friday 1st December 2023

An 11-year-old from Warminster who has faced incredible hardship in his short life, is now set to climb England’s highest peak in memory of his grandmother.

Lucas Rennie was only two years old when the thatched cottage his family lived in burned to the ground due to a chimney fire. The fire resulted in the loss of almost everything the Rennie family-owned, leaving them with only each other.

So when Lucas’s grandmother Angela (known to him as “Babbie’) died from Parkinson’s disease after a 12-year battle, the loss was even more devastating.

Lucas’ parents say it is these losses that have sparked the resilience and determination within Lucas that has driven him to take on his latest mountain challenge.

“I want to do this in memory of my grandmother and for all those who are fighting Parkinson’s. I want to show them that they are not alone, and I want to help raise money to find a cure,” says Lucas.

Throughout her battle with Parkinson’s, Lucas said he witnessed his grandmother’s unwavering strength, and her courageous spirit has fuelled his desire to take action against Parkinson’s disease.

The 11-year-old will climb to the top of Scafell Pike alongside his dad Alasdair Rennie on Saturday, December 2, and his parents could not be more proud.

“Lucas has shown such incredible strength and compassion in taking on this challenge,” said his family.

“We are deeply moved by his determination to make a difference in the fight against Parkinson’s. We are grateful for the overwhelming support and encouragement from everyone who has rallied behind Lucas.”

Parkinson’s disease is a chronic and progressive movement disorder that initially causes tremor in one hand, stiffness or slowing of movement. The disease causes parts of the brain to become progressively damaged over many years.

Lucas said he hopes to raise £1,000 for Parkinson’s UK, who are a charity providing support and research for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and their families.
