In Loving Memory Of Bob Peaty

Tuesday 3rd June 2025

A message from Bob Peaty’s family:

In Loving Memory of Bob Peaty

We are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of our beloved Dad, Bob Peaty.

Bob was well known around Warminster since the 1970s — a familiar face to many through his long-standing building company, Peaty & Smith Builders. He was a passionate supporter of local sport, especially during his years at Warminster Town Football Club in the 1980s and 90s. Many will also remember him enjoying a round at Thoulstone Golf Club, where he was a keen and regular golfer.

We warmly invite all who knew Bob to join us in saying goodbye and celebrating his life.

JustGiving Fundraiser In Memory Of Robert Peck Of Warminster

Thursday 27th April 2023

Robert Peck, the second and youngest son of Eric Peck and Eileen Peck (nee Ovens), who grew up at The Dene, Warminster, attended Kingdown School, worked at Bishopstrow Farm and later was a popular employee at Agroserve, Watery Lane, Bishopstrow, has died aged 61.

Rob passed away on Tuesday 4th April 2023. His family say he was “An incredible man who will be hugely missed by his wife, children and grandchildren. His funeral will take place according to his wishes. A celebration of Rob’s life will take place at Warminster Cricket Club, Sambourne Road, Warminster, on Friday 5th May 2023, from 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. There is no need to wear a suit or black. Rob hated all that, he loved loud shirts, Realtree clothing and crocs – he was a casual man! If you would like to join us to share a story or two, you are more than welcome.”

Lyn Sprenger has set up a JustGiving page, in Rob’s memory, fundraising for the Salisbury Hospital Cardiology Ward (for the visitors and patients well being during attendance there). She writes:

Many of you who have worked with our dairy hygiene distribution network will have known and worked together with Rob, having started with Agroserve as a HGV driver with the company on 5th April 1994.

The former owners of the company Angela and Colin Milne, knew Rob from his days working for the local farmer Lock Rice, and being unable at that time to afford a dedicated fork-lift truck, Lock allowed Rob to go down with his tractor to unload their lorries.

Very much a local man, Rob’s father Eric was our postman at the factory delivering the mail on his bicycle, “those were the days”.

In 2005 Rob was promoted to the role of Distribution-Transport Manager and took over the route planning and shipping organization of the two lorries.

On 13th August 2010 Rob married the love of his life Maz, in the Bishopstrow House Hotel and invited all the Agroserve employees as we were such a close team.

In 2020 Rob worked with the company setting up a brand new distribution warehouse in Frome and getting it stocked ready for improved quicker deliveries to all our customers.

Warminster United Church ~ Remembering Arthur John Pimm

Monday 1st June 2020

From the Quarterly Newsletter (Summer – June To August 2020) of Warminster United Church, George Street, Warminster, BA12 8QA:

Arthur John Pimm
Arthur was born on Christmas Eve 1928 in Bethnal Green. He started his National Service in June 1946 (5th Regt Royal Horse Artillery) and continued until 23 June 1958 / 12 years total service. His military conduct was recorded as Exemplary and he was described in his record as being a very capable and reliable man, who was loyal, honest and completely trustworthy.

Arthur held a number of jobs including working in Curry’s and as a rubber worker at the Avon in Melksham. However, his last job was a total change of direction as a Hospital Porter in Warminster, which progressed to him becoming a nursing auxiliary. This allowed him to show his caring nature, which was acknowledged by the Matron when he retired in 1989. One
memory of him from his time at the hospital was taking on the role of Father Christmas every year and handing out presents to patients. He later became re-acquainted with one of his hospital colleagues in 2015, as she was the person who greeted him and showed him around Ashwood Care Centre!

Arthur met his wife, Beryl at her brother Geoff’s wedding and went on to marry her on 1 March 1952. They celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary in 2012, although by this time, Beryl’s health had declined. He was devoted to Beryl and was devastated when she passed away in 2013.

He enjoyed cycling, swimming, music, films, photography, history, steam trains, travel, and the church and his family were the main focus in his life: son Keith, daughter Carol and grandchildren Stephen and Sarah.

Arthur moved to Ashwood Care Centre in August 2015, where he enjoyed a new lease of life. His religious beliefs continued to be extremely important to him and he continued to attend church and get fully involved with the Sunday service. He died on 3rd March. Arthur will be remembered as a caring, gentle and loving person, who brought much pleasure to all who knew him. His memory will be cherished always.
