Major Fundraising Drive For A Center Parcs Family Holiday For Warminster Youngster Finn Martin Who Has Leukaemia

Friday 6th May 2016

The mother of a four-year-old with leukaemia has spoken of her shock after she discovered friends and family had organised a huge fundraising campaign to support her – without her even knowing.

Debbie Martin, from Warminster, has spent much of the past seven months at Southampton Hospital with her son Finn, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia back in October.

And with little Finn facing three years of treatment, restrictions on what he can and can’t do and the need to be close to a hospital, there was little chance of the family ever getting away on holiday.

But Debbie’s daughter Eli Hodson, 24, secretly arranged a major fundraising drive to pay for a week’s break at Center Parcs in Longleat Forest – just a couple of miles from their home in Warminster.

Warminster Is Very Lush ~ Said Jonathan Meades

Thursday 29th May 2014

Danny Howell writes ~

I much enjoyed listening to Jonathan Meades at Salisbury today. I have been an admirer of his work for a long time now. He has an envious way with language. I love his books and television programmes. Often wish I could write and make those tv films like he does. This afternoon Jonathan Meades very kindly signed a copy of his latest book: ‘An Encyclopaedia Of Myself’ for me. When I told him, in a brief conversation, that I was from Warminster, he immediately replied: “I came through Warminster this morning. It’s very lush!”
