Death Of Joyce Hembury

Joyce Elizabeth Hembury passed away peacefully on Tuesday 27th August 2024, aged 90. The beloved wife of the late Robert, mother and grandmother, and much-loved by all her family and friends. The funeral service will be held at St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, Longbridge Deverill, on Friday 4th October 2024, at 12 noon, and will be followed by the burial. Family flowers only. Death Of The Former Manager Of The Geest Banana Depot, Warminster

Raymond John Hilborne, OBE, passed away peacefully at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester, aged 101, on Saturday 7th September 2024. Predeceased by his parents Reginal John and Nellie Victoria, his brother Maurice; and survived by his brother Leonard. Beloved husband to Muriel for 74 years and cherished father to Christine, Janet and Roger (Cleone). Much loved granddad to Clare, Laura, Lauren (Joe), and Victoria (Domenic), great granddad to Freddie and Matilda.

Ray of Fair Oak, Hampshire, will be lovingly remembered by family, friends and caregivers. Ray was the long-standing Manager of the Geest Banana Depot at Copheap Lane, Warminster, having joined the company in the late 1950s, then later moving to Spalding to hold senior roles within the company, predominantly within the banana sector, until his retirement in 1989.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral service at Wessex Vale Crematorium, Hedge End, Southampton on Friday 4th October 2024, at 1.00 pm, followed by a reception, In lieu of flowers, Ray’s family are supporting Dementia UK. Timothy Hill passed away on Thursday 5th September 2024, aged 79. Husband of Carole, father of Nick, Jim and Sam. He was at one time the Headmaster of Horningsham Primary School, and a long-time resident of Horningsham.

Bridget Stokes, formerly of Bore Hill Farm, Warminster, died on Wednesday 14th August 2024, aged 91. The funeral will take place at West Wiltshire Crematorium, Semington, on Monday 23rd September 2024, at 1.00 pm. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to the Injured Jockeys Fund and the Friends Of Savernake Hospital.

Actor, writer and director, Rupert Everett, will be in conversation with actor & voice artist, Allegra Marland. Rupert has an international stage and film career spanning over 43 years. The three-time BAFTA award nominee has been a Patron for Julia’s House since the charity launched an appeal to open Wiltshire’s only purpose-built children’s hospice in Devizes in 2017. This event is bought to you by Warminster School, with all proceeds going to Julia’s House.

John Reed Was Runner-Up In Hilly Helmet Challenge

The local Hilly Helmet Challenge last week attracted over 100 runners and raised around £5,000 for the Brain Tumour Support charity.

Well done to John Reed who ran the challenging hilly route, whilst also wearing body armour still managing to finish as runner up.
