Auction Sale Of Stock At Home Farm, Stourhead

From the Salisbury & Winchester Journal, Monday 16th February 1818:

Capital Farming Stock, &c.
For Sale by Auction, by Mr. Jeanes, at the Home Farm, lately kept in hand by Sir R.C. Hoare, Bart., (but now let), on Thursday Feb. 26, 1818, and two following days, at twelve o’clock, each day, viz., Thirty-four Dairy Cows, part with calves, the others forward in calf; six 2 year-old heifers, in ditto, six yearling heifers, four bulls, eight working oxen, and eight cart horses, with their harness; 30 pigs, and a great variety of husbandry, dairy and brewing utensils, timber for wheelers’ use, &c.; particulars whereof will be expressed in catalogues, to be had three days previous to the sale, of the Auctioneer, Red Lion Inn, Bourton, Dorset; Stourton Inn; and at the place of sale. The above stock will be found with attention, the cows are well selected, of the long-horned breed, and with the oxen will be sold on the first day; and the horses and pigs the second day.
