Point Pond Has A Concrete Lining
Sunday 31st March 2024
Danny Howell writes:
I was taking to a keeper on the Fonthill Estate this afternoon and I mentioned how the last few times that I had visited Point Pond in Great Ridge Wood it had either no water or next to no water in it. The keeper surprised me when he said that when the pond was checked for possible restoration work not so long ago it was discovered that beneath the plant life which grows in the bed of the pond there is a concrete lining.
Do any readers of this blog know when the concrete lining was added to Point Pond (which is an old droving pond)?
Or does anyone out there have any information including personal recollections about Point Pond; also does anyone have any photographs of Point Pond in days gone by?
If you can help with these enquiries, please email: dannyhowellnet@gmail.com
