Wilfred Middlebrook, in The Changing Face Of Warminster (first written in 1960), updated in 1971:
There used to be a pleasant footpath through the fields [which became the Prestbury housing estate including Southleigh View, St. John’s Road and Prestbury Drive] from Chain Lane and Olwey to Boreham, but only the last little stretch down by Boreham remains. The builders of the housing estate left a sort of footpath along the rear of St. John’s Road, but garden refuse soon made this almost impassable.
