Warminster Town FC Awarded £15,000 For Replacement Pitch Barrier

26th November 2025

Press release from Warminster Town Council:

Warminster Town Council (WTC) has awarded £15,000 to Warminster Town FC (WTFC) to replace the deteriorating pitch-side barrier at the club’s Weymouth Street ground, with money coming from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

The grant completes the matched funding required for the club to unlock up to £35,000 in Premier League Stadium Fund, enabling the full project to proceed.

The current metal and concrete barrier is in poor condition and needs replacing. This combined funding will allow a full replacement constructed to modern FA and ground-grading standards, essential to ensure player, official, and spectator safety and that the facilities are fit for purpose for the next generation.

Councillor Jack Jones said: “Maintaining modern, safe, and compliant sports facilities is vital for a thriving community. The replacement barrier will ensure the ground meets current regulations, protects supporters and players, and supports the long-term sustainability of one of the town’s well-used sporting assets.

“Warminster Town Council recognise the club’s role in offering accessible, positive opportunities for residents, especially young people, and affirmed that investing in local sports infrastructure strengthens community wellbeing and pride.”

CIL is a planning charge payable by developers on any new development.

The Warminster Town Council policy is that its share of the CIL should be spent on investment in the public realm and public facilities that support the community. The decision was made by councillors at a Full Council meeting on Monday 24th November.

Warminster Town Football Club will report back to the Warminster Town Council on completion of the new pitch barrier project.

Abusive Behaviour At Warminster Town Football Club Will Not Be Tolerated

Saturday 27th July 2024

A comment on the Facebook page Spotted In Warminster Town:

Taking the family to see Warminster town play football shouldn’t leave you feeling ashamed – particularly when your team win.

As a local business owner I was interested in sponsoring our town’s team but while there is such disgraceful behaviour by the fans, I have no interest in having my business name associated with Warminster Town Football Club.

The away team were subjected to a ridiculous amount of abuse by a large group of lads who were told several times to pipe down but continued to be really aggressive in there behaviour and demeanour. Win or lose its about the game on the pitch not being aggressive and intimidating. The behaviour ruined it for many true home team supporters there today.

Whether you’re home or away, win or lose you should let the play on the pitch do the talking and not be intimidating, aggressive or behave in a manner that gives your team a bad name.

Warminster Town Football Club have responded:

We are very sorry to read this post but please rest assured we are aware of the recent problem and are determined to sort it out.

The behaviour from this group of lads will not be tolerated and will do our upmost to stamp it out, starting at our next home game on Wednesday evening.

Plans will be put in place immediately to stop these individuals attending matches and ruining the atmosphere at our lovely club.

If anyone has any concerns about attending or any comments please message our Facebook page and these will be passed onto the committee.
