St. Giles Church, Imber, By Hilary Jackson

Christmas Day 2013

Here’s a card we’ve received at dannyhowell.net
this Christmas. There’s no printed message inside,
so the sender wrote her own wishes inside to us,
and she chose the card for us, she says, because she
knew we would love the picture. And yes we do!
It depicts St. Giles’ Church, Imber, and is from
a watercolour by Hilary Jackson, who lives at
Victoria Road, Warminster. Hilary is obviously
very talented and it’s wonderful to know we
have such gifted artists and creative people
living and working in Warminster. If you want to
know more about Hilary and her work, visit

Artist Karen Welsh, from Boyton,
is painting a view of
the landscape near Tytherington.

Photographs taken by Danny Howell
on Wednesday 1st May 2013.

Her chosen subject here is the landscape
across Windmill Piece to the downland,
west of Old Tin Shed, Tytherington.

The scene, with bales of elephant grass
below the downland.

Work in progress.

Karen says she moved here from Surrey
two years ago, when she first visited
the bi-annual Wylye Valley Art Trail.

Face Mail In Former Intek Windows

Friday 19th October 2012

Over the summer something was going on in Warminster.
Appearing in different businesses, cafes and pubs
in the town were display boxes with postcards in them.

The Art Team at the Warminster Festival
launched a project called Face Mail
and encouraged local residents to draw self-portraits
on the the free postcards, which were
sponsored by the Footprints Gallery in Chinn’s Court,
Warminster. The message from the Art Team was:
don’t feel intimidated – just have a go!

Danny Howell took these photographs of the Face Mail
portraits on display in the windows of the former
Intek mobile phone shop in the Three Horse Shoes Walk,
Warminster, on Friday 19th October 2012.

About 200 postcard-size portraits on display.

Below are just a few of the self-portraits:

 Hilary Jackson
