Restoring The Mobile Breast Screening Unit To Warminster

Friday 5th December 2025

Press release from Warminster Town Council:

Warminster Town Council wants an urgent review to reinstate a local mobile breast screening service in the town. The Warminster Health and Wellbeing Forum is launching an appeal and the town council is offering them its full support.

Councillors previously raised concerned by the decision to close the mobile breast screening service in Warminster, which means residents now have to travel to Westbury or further afield.

According to the Wiltshire Breast Screening Service the decision to withdraw from Warminster was made for a number of reasons, including concerns about anti-social behaviour such as people banging on the side of the van during treatment sessions.

Councillor Elizabeth Lee (pictured) said: “I am encouraged that council members unanimously agreed a motion in support of the Warminster Health and Wellbeing Forum’s efforts to see the local mobile screening unit reinstated in the town.

“All councillors expressed deep concern about the impact this decision has on accessibility for local residents and the potential consequences for early detection and treatment.”

In line with the motion, the Town Clerk has been requested to write formally to the NHS Trust and the ICB to communicate the council’s position, asking them to urgently review their decision and to offer support in finding a resolution that restores accessible breast screening provision for the people of Warminster.

Warminster Town Council also reaffirms its support for the ongoing work of the Health and Wellbeing Forum, which continues to pursue this matter on behalf of the community.

Warminster Town Council wants to protect the health and wellbeing of residents by ensuring equitable access to breast screening services within the town and will call on the relevant NHS Trust and Integrated Care Board (ICB) to urgently review the decision as it aims to reinstate a mobile breast screening service in Warminster.

Warminster Community Radio Presenter Tina Randall Has Died

Friday 5th December 2025

Sad news from Warminster Community Radio:

We are heartbroken to hear that our friend and fellow volunteer Tina Randall has died following a short illness.

Tina and her family were WCR listeners from the very first broadcast back in 1996. She was a regular competitor on Challenge Night. Then in 2013, Tina decided to train as a presenter and she hosted the Thursday 5pm to 7pm programme for the last 12 years. We know that listeners enjoyed her easy listening music mixed with friendly chat and her weekly book review – Tina was an avid reader.

All of us at WCR send our condolences to Tina’s husband, children and grandchildren.

Tina embodied WCR’s values. She was a friend to so many both on and off the radio. We will miss her terribly.

A Friendly Reminder To Dog Owners To Be Responsible

Thursday 4th December 2025

Press release from Warminster Town Council:

Warminster Town Council is reminding dog owners to be responsible and pick up after their dog.

Recent concerns about dog fouling were raised at a Town Development meeting on Monday 1st December following discussions with local businesses.

Warminster Town Council (WTC) continues to work in collaboration with the Warminster Business Network (WBN) to encourage increased footfall into the town.

The town council is therefore reminding owners to be respectful and encourage residents to take pride in our environment, making Warminster a pleasant place to live, work and visit.

The Mayor of Warminster, Cllr Andrew Cooper has also added his support to the campaign and has asked dog owners to help maintain the lovely town we know Warminster to be.

Dog poo bags can be purchased from the Civic Centre (Sambourne Road, Warminster BA12 8LB).

Dog fouling is an offence. A fixed penalty notice for not cleaning up after a dog is £100, which can rise to £1,000 if the case goes to court.
