People Of All Ages Welcome To Join Warminster Fairtrade Group
Warminster achieved Fairtrade Town status nearly four years ago and held a huge Fairtrade tea party for the town to celebrate.
The town’s Fairtrade Group meets regularly to plan events in the Warminster area to promote the concept of fair trade. With the support of the Town Council, they have worked hard to spread the word. They acknowledge that they are fortunate because the Mayor is a President of the committee and the Deputy Mayor a member.
Warminster Fairtrade Group now has a small Young Supporters’ group from Kingdown School, (the local comprehensive). Three years ago they entered the Warminster Carnival dressed as Fairtrade bananas and won first prize. In 2010, they dressed as Oompa Loompas (remember Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?) and carried a giant bar of Divine chocolate which they had made. They came second in their class. Last year they dressed up as washerwomen and carried a huge washing line hung with clothes made from Fairtrade cotton. What will they do next?
If anyone, of any age, would be interested in joining the Warminster Fairtrade group, they would be delighted to hear from you.
