Pulling Ragwort At Oxendean

Sunday 28th September 2025

A message for members of Sustainable Warminster:

Good morning, Sustainable Warminster members,

We’re heading to Oxendean (BA12 0DZ) on 1 October, 13:30-15:00, for a ragwort pulling session in the paddock. The weather is looking promising for a lovely day outdoors. By helping clear ragwort from the paddock, we can make a real difference for local wildlife. This hands-on session supports Warminster Plan Bee, creating healthier habitats and vital stepping stones for pollinators to thrive. Come enjoy the fresh air, meet like-minded volunteers, and lend a hand for biodiversity.

No experience needed – just enthusiasm. If you would like to volunteer, please email Iain via PlanB@sustainablewarminster.co.uk or just turn up on the day.

To keep safe and comfortable during our ragwort pulling session, please come prepared with:

  • Sturdy footwear, such as walking boots or tough trainers with a good grip. No sandals or open-toed shoes.
  • Suitable clothing to protect against foliage scratches, nettles, and sun exposure, etc.
  • Gardening gloves
  • Weather-appropriate layers. Bring a waterproof jacket if rain is forecast, or a sunhat and sunscreen if the weather is sunny.
  • A water bottle to keep hydrated.

Best wishes,
Rebecca and Amy,
Co-Chairs, Sustainable Warminster.

Hashtag Bad Hair Are Moving From Warminster To Frome

Friday 27th September 2025

Hashtag Bad Hair, at 7 Silver Street, Warminster, have announced that they are moving to Vallis Way, Frome.

Nate O’Neill of Hashtag Bad Hair writes:

Yes sadly it is true. Unfortunately our landlord hasn’t got things done that we’ve needed doing since we moved in nearly 4 years ago and that isn’t fair on our clients or our business. Due to the poor state of upstairs, we’ve never been able to use it for anything despite paying for it. As most people know, we put a lot of time effort and money into our salon and it’s been disappointing not to have been able to give all of our clients what we feel they deserve. We know that hair is a luxury and we have felt for a long time that the building should reflect this but sadly it does not. We choose to work closely with people with additional needs and support a lot of children, but this doesn’t bring in enough to repair things that our landlord has not. We have looked for other premises in Warminster but they haven’t been fit for our needs (also pricey!). We are joining forces with a wonderful team of neuro-spicy creatives who will be tattooing and have an alternative shop too so we will all be under the same roof, working together – and splitting bills coz we all know how expensive life is! We will only be in Frome, just down the road and having the relief of having a fully functional building in great condition is great so we can offer what our clients deserve without the anxiety of the building falling apart or trees growing through the upstairs windows. We will miss Warminster, but fortunately we’ll still be very close by and we can’t wait to show you all our new shop and venture. Nate, Pixie and the #Badhair Crew.
