Dresden Villa at Vicarage Street, Warminster, was included among the properties sold by the Longleat Estate in September 1919 (about 100 houses, cottages, shops, pubs, farms and smallholdings – described at the time as the largest property sale ever held in Warminster).
The sale catalogue described it as follows:
Lot 7. Dresden Villa, Vicarage Street, Warminster. A double-fronted Villa Residence standing nicely back from the road, with small Lawn and Auricaria in front, and containing Hall, Dining and Drawing Rooms, Kitchen, back Kitchen with copper, Pantry, Cellar, four Bedrooms, and indoor w.c. There is a walled-in Garden at the back, with Coal House and Small Tool Shed. There is a side entrance and also a right of way over Mr. C.H.V. Weston’s premises for coal, etc.
Now let to Mrs. E.E. Titt on a quarterly tenancy at an annual rental of £25. Tenant paying rates, Land tax. 7s. 5d.
The sale of the properties was spread over two days, Friday 5th September and Saturday 6th September 1919, at the Town Hall, Warminster. The auctioneer was David Waddington of Messrs. D. and D.H. Waddington, and Messrs. Ponting & Marshall were the solicitors for the vendor, the Marquess of Bath, K.G.
Dresden Villa was sold on the first day of the auction sale, for £530, to Mr. F. Parsons.
