Cast Iron Post Made By Hole & Roberts, At Smallbrook Lane, Warminster

A cast iron post with a section of pointed railings at Smallbrook Lane, Warminster.

It stands next to the gateway at the rear entrance to 170 Boreham Road, Warminster.

‘Hole & Roberts Warminster’ is inscribed on the post.

H.J.G. Hole and Herbert Roberts were the proprietors of the Boreham Road Foundry, Warminster, from 1903 to 1906.

At the Eastleigh Estate sale of land and properties in the parishes of Bishopstrow, Sutton Veny and Warminster, being sold (on behalf of Sir John Dugdale Astley) by auction by the firm of Marsh, Dawes And Gibbs at the Bath Arms Hotel, Market Place, Warminster on Wednesday 4th June 1884:

Lot 26 comprised eight brick and stone built, tiled and thatched cottages in Smallbrook Mill Road, Boreham, Warminster, occupied by William Payne, Mrs Sparey, Edward Witchell, R. Doughty, James Player, Agnes Jeffries, Henry Ransome, and Charles Hiscutt.
