Astronomy Names Confirmed For Streets In Phase One Of The Warminster West Urban Extension

At a meeting of the Planning Advisory Committee of Warminster Town Council, held at Warminster Civic Centre on Monday 21st November 2022, Town Councillors Allensby, Fraser and Keeble heard that Wiltshire Council have confirmed the street names chosen by Warminster Town Council for for the first phase of the Warminster West Urban Extension. The minutes record that:

Cllr Keeble announced that Wiltshire Council street naming confirmed the names that the Town Council chose for phase one of the West Urban Extension: Hubble Road, Saturn Close, Orion Close, Jupiter Close, Perseus Close, Sirius Close, Kuiper Close, and Webb Close.

New Street Names For The Persimmon Development Off Victoria Road, Warminster, Will Pay Homage To Dark Skies

The Agenda for the meeting of the Planning Advisory Committee of Warminster Town Council to be held at Warminster Civic Centre, Sambourne Road, Warminster, BA12 8LB, on Monday 22nd August 2022, includes:

Street Naming
The Persimmon development at Victoria Road have requested the naming of 8 roads. They have requested that we submit 10 names in case any supplied are not suitable. Please consider the cul-de-sac roads being ‘Close, Mews or Court’. Please see the attached road layout plan. The theme for these roads will pay homage to our area of dark skies.

Suggested names are:
Andromeda, Messier, Perseus, Saturn, Hubble, Orion, The Milky Way, Cassiopeia, Sirius, Kuiper, Jupiter, Webb.

Additional names for the future development could be:
Zodiac, Lunar, Gemini, Draco, Caldwell, Portia, Mercury, Herschel, Ganymede, Tranquillity.
