The Warminster and West Wilts Herald, Saturday 4th June 1887, featured the following advertisement:

Is instructed by the Trustees of the Will of the late James Chapman, Esq., to SELL by AUCTION at the BATH ARMS HOTEL, Warminster,
ON WEDNESDAY, the 8th of JUNE, 1887, at four o’clock in the afternoon precisely,
HENFORD COTTAGE, and other
Freehold & Leasehold Properties
in the following or such other Lots as shall be arrange at the time of sale:-
LOT 1. – Cottage and Garden at the Marsh, occupied by Mr. John Cundick.
LOT 2. – Freehold Residence, known as “Henford Cottage,†for many years occupied by the late Mr. Chapman, with Gardens, Stables, and Gardener’s Cottage, the whole containing 1a. 1r. 2p.
LOT 3. – A Piece of Freehold Arable Land (with Cottage, occupied by Mr. T. Andrews) adjoining Lot 2, and containing 4a. 0r. 38p.
LOT 4. – Several Enclosures of Freehold Pasture Land (with yard and buildings), opposite Lot 2, containing in the whole 22a. 1r. 10p., and bounded by the road, the river, and Butler’s Coombe Farm.

This lot is held under the Marquis of Bath for the residue of a term of 99 years, determinable with the lives of Sir. Jno. D. Astley, Bart., and H.F.L. Astley, Esq., aged respectively 59 and 56. Reserved rent £1 3s. 4d.
All the above lots are situate at or near Henford Marsh.
LOT 11. – Two Leasehold Dwelling-houses, Nos. 27 and 28, George Street, held under the Marquis of Bath for the residue of a term of 99 years, determinable with the life of Mr. Jeremiah Morgan, aged 62. Reserved rent £1.
LOT 12. – A Freehold Dwelling-house No.9, Vicarage Street, with Yard, Buildings, and compact Dairy Farm adjoining, the whole containing 12a. 0r. 25p., and now occupied by Mr. John Langley.
