The chimney stack on the west-facing end wall of Virginia Cottage, 191 Boreham Road, Warminster, features two bricked-up fireplaces facing outwards (ground floor and first floor)- evidence that there once was a cottage adjacent No.191, between it and Grange Lane.

Danny Howell writes: It is known that in the days when Grange Lane was known as Parsonage Lane, there were two cottages on the corner of Boreham Road and Parsonage Lane that were destroyed by a fire. We may presume that the two blocked-up fireplaces facing outwards from the west wall of Virginia Cottage are perhaps the only remaining evidence of the two neighbouring cottages that burnt down. I think I’m right in saying that the deeds of Virginia Cottage mention the two other cottages and the fire.
