Strongies Amusement Arcade And Cafe

Thursday 9th November 1995

A shed which was formerly used as a small warehouse/storage facility has recently been converted to an amusement arcade and cafe. It is in the Anchor Yard behind the Anchor Hotel which has its pub frontage on to the Market Place, Warminster.

Strongies Amusement Arcade and Cafe is a business owned by Nick Strong, who lives at Pound Row, Warminster. 33 year old Nick is assisted by his brother Andrew and his sisters Diane Strong and Gillian Brown.

During the day the cafe is open and includes a penned-off play area for toddlers. Four slot machines have proved popular with adults but children are prohibited from using them. In the evening the building becomes an amusement arcade, with pool tables and computer games available for a happy clientele of Warminster teenagers.

Some nights as many as 60 youngsters have visited; their parents welcome the new initiative which is supervised, and acknowledge it is an alternative to their children hanging about the streets or the town park in the dark and becoming a possible nuisance.
