It’s been glorious, weatherwise, in Warminster today. Someone has remarked this photo of mine, taken in the Lake Pleasure Grounds (Town Park) this afternoon, would make a teaser of a jigsaw?

This little hedgehog arrived feeling very lethargic, congested, and struggling with an upper respiratory infection. On top of that, he was carrying a huge number of ticks!
Our team nebulised him to help his breathing, removed all the ticks, and treated him for parasites. After a few days of TLC, he finally started to brighten up.
He’s now been transferred to Wiltshire Wildlife to continue his recovery, and when the other hedgehogs start to wake from hibernation, he’ll be released back into the wild where he belongs.
A big thank you to everyone who helps support local wildlife. Little lives like his depend on it.

From the EBBRAG website:
Al Wright (on behalf of EBBRAG) is conducting a survey, gathering evidence to protect Home Farm, Boreham, Warminster as a Local Green Space and Green Corridor. He will be out and about, as always, along the public footpaths, bridleways and lanes in the Home Farm area (and also on the Southern Range Road below Battlesbury) up until 21st March, with survey forms, to give everyone the opportunity to make their views known.
If you don’t know him already, you will recognise him as the tall guy with a bushy beard, with a rucksack on his back, and usually with a camera in hand, photographing the landscape and wildlife. If you’re not outdoors enjoying the Home Farm area and unable to see Al, but would still like to take part in this important survey, you can complete the survey online and submit it to via EBBRAG.Â
The survey results will be presented to Warminster Town Council, for the Warminster Neighbourhood Plan Consultation, with the objective of making people’s views known in regard to having Home Farm removed from site selection and proposing that Home Farm be added to the Local Green Spaces for Warminster.
The survey can be found on the EBBRAG website at https://www.ebbrag.com/home-farm-community-value-survey/
Closing date for this online survey is 20th March, so they can be printed out and submitted to the Town Council before the Neighbourhood Plan Consultation closing date of 23rd March.
Also to remind you that on the same EBBRAG website under a Letter, there is an open EBBRAG letter (petition) to Warminster Town Council we would like you to sign. This will be handed in before 23 March 2026, with all the signatures, while there has been a medium response so far EBBRAG needs you all to sign.
Finally, we understand the response on the Warminster Town Council draft Neighbourhood Plan 2 Survey is poor. Please make sure you add up to 10 friends, relatives, neighbours, etc., complete it by midnight on the 23 March 2026. Note you do not need to answer every question but it is vital you include the phrase:
Remove Home Farm from site selection in the draft Warminster Neighbourhood Plan.
Thank you for membership of EBBRAG.
Regards EBBRAG Administrator.

Hearts Of Fire is a film (musical drama) starring Bob Dylan, playing the part of a faded rock star called Billy Parker. The film also stars Rupert Everett.
IMDb describes the storyline as “A reclusive musician, once a huge rock star, takes a young female protegee. While on a tour she meets a younger, more popular rocker and switches her loyalties.”
Hearts Of Fire was announced in August 1986. The film was released in the UK on 9th October 1987 but only shown in cinemas for two weeks. It was later released on video cassette. The film was panned by the critics. Dylan never seemed too interested in it and later distanced himself from it.
Wikipedia states that the concert scenes in the film were shot at the Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario; Colston Hall in Bristol; and Camden, North London.
But people have told me some of the minor concert scenes were shot at the Athenaeum in Warminster, the Ath being privately booked for filming. And that students from Warminster School were among those invited to be the audience.
Can anyone confirm this? Were you working at the Ath at the time? Were you a student at Warminster School and in the audience? Is there any reference in the Athenaeum Archives?

While out on an afternoon stroll with a friend the other day, we stumbled across an iron object hidden among the ivy beneath our feet in Primrose Wood (see photo above). It is about 15 inches across and resembles a lid. Whatever it was meant for or part of, someone went to the trouble of adding a decoration of leaves and berries to the ironwork. Has anyone ever seen one of these before? Does anyone know what it was used for?
