Sutton Veny CofE Primary School Celebrates Latest Ofsted Results
Delighted pupils, staff and the wider school community at a Wiltshire primary school are celebrating after a successful Ofsted inspection.
Sutton Veny CofE Primary was visited by Ofsted in March, with the inspection team assessing the overall effectiveness of the school as “Good’. The school’s early years provision was singled out for particular praise, with inspectors rating it as “Outstanding’, which is the highest accolade that inspectors can award a school. The Ofsted report highlighted how the children thrive in the early years and get off to a flying start in the reception year.
The report also highlighted how school staff support pupils’ personal development with an enrichment curriculum, which sees children from across the school participate in an array of activities including falconry, yoga and voice tuition.
Ofsted further praised the school for making reading a priority, while staff were commended for meeting the needs of children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
The behaviour and well-being of pupils was also recognised, with the report outlining how staff “successfully support’ pupils to understand their emotions and become “responsible individuals’. Both parents and the children say that the school is like one big family.
Headteacher, Mr Adam Lewis, who has worked at the school for nineteen years and became the headteacher in 2021, said, “The outcome of our recent inspection is testament to the dedication, commitment, and continued hard work of the whole school community. As a school, we are always on a journey of continuous improvement and it was reassuring that the school has received the external validation that it deserves, particularly after waiting sixteen years since our last Ofsted inspection.”
Sutton Veny is an inclusive Church of England Voluntary Controlled school with 163 children currently on roll. The school prides itself on delivering a caring, happy and safe environment in which every child can thrive and reach their full potential.
