Episode 16, of Series 2, of Find It, Fix It, Flog It was screened on Channel 4 television on Monday 16th October 2017.
In this episode Henry Cole and Max Mcmurdo travelled to Durleighmarsh Farm, Petersfield, Hampshire, where the Henslow family grow vegetables including asparagus.
The remit of the programme is to find old or disused items, repair or upcycle them, and then sell them, giving the proceeds to the owner.
One of the items that Henry Cole selected at Durleighmarsh Farm was a trunk, made of tin and wood, for transporting a soldier’s belongings, dating from the Second World War.
Martin Henslow said it had been his father’s trunk. Written or chalked upon the trunk was some wording including what looked like the words ‘wanted on disembarkation’ and his father’s name and address – ‘Zeals, Wiltshire’. Martin confirmed that his father’s address was in Wiltshire.
Henry took the trunk to his restoration partner Guy Willison, in Oxfordshire, where Henry and Guy cleaned it up and made some amendments including adding chains to the lid.
Independent valuer Adam Partridge, assessing the upcycled trunk, said “It’s got to be a good £140 of anyone’s money.” Henry was pleased to say he had in fact sold it to his mate Josh for £150. That was £150 profit.
