Autumn 2016
From Warminster Town Council Newsletter, Autumn 2016:
Plans Continuing For Town Park
The transfer of the Town Park to the Town Council is imminent. In the meantime Wiltshire Council has kindly given permission for work to be undertaken in advance and there have been huge improvements made already as a result, including the painting of the bandstand, gates, railings and bollards and the trimming of the hedges. Various organisations have sponsored and planted their own flowerbeds this year.
The plans for next year are that primary schools will be invited to adopt a flowerbed and the children will plant them out for the summer, with the Town Council taking over the winter planting. Businesses will be invited to sponsor the remaining flowerbeds – this could be a whole bed or a shared bed. We’re currently working on the costs for sponsorship which will include provision of summer and winter bedding, planting, maintenance and signage. If you would like to register an interest in sponsoring a bed for next year please contact the Council and we’ll add you to the list.
The reopening of the paddling pool on 25th July [2016] has been the most notable success as a consequence of which the children’s play area has been packed throughout the summer holidays. It has been a joy to see so many families using the park and enjoying the fabulous weather. We want to make sure families can continue to enjoy the play area throughout the year and we’ve commissioned Mant Leisure to make all necessary repairs to the play equipment, which will take place now that the school holidays are over.
We asked in the last newsletter for any suggestions for the park. We did have one, which was for adult outdoor gym equipment. What do you think? Would you use it as an individual or do you belong to a club that would incorporate it into a training session? What type of equipment do you want? Please let us know your thoughts on this or any other ideas you may have.
