Saturday 23rd April 2016
The Black Barn Gallery, a converted farm building at Manor Farm, Boyton, which served as a showcase for local artists and crafts people, allowing them to demonstrate the diversity of skills to be found in rural workshops within a 50-mile radius of Boyton, is to close down at the end of April 2016.
The organisers have said: “It is with great sadness that we have been forced to announce the closing of the Black Barn Gallery on Saturday 30th April. Until then, we will be open as normal, Wednesday to Saturday, 10.00 – 4.00. Following the sudden closure of the Farm Shop and the Trough at the Ginger Piggery, our visitor numbers have fallen. It has not been possible due to the uncertainty of the past months to offer potential new exhibitors a realistic business opportunity and therefore the Black Barn has become unsustainable. We would like to thank all our customers and past exhibitors for their loyalty over the past almost ten years, and hope that you will be able to call in and see us before we close.”
The Black Barn Gallery was run as a not-for-profit co-operative and was staffed voluntarily by the exhibiting artists.
