Landslide Blocking The C13 Road At Dinah’s Hollow, Melbury Abbas

Wednesday 9th March 2016

Owing to a landslide of 20 to 30 tonnes of soil and debris at Dinah’s Hollow, the C13 road at Melbury Abbas, between Shaftesbury and Blandford Forum is closed to all traffic and could remain closed for at least three days. Traffic is being diverted along the A350 Shaftesbury to Blandford road. Heavy rain and wind last night (Tuesday 8th/Wednesday 9th March 2016) caused the landslip, the force of which pushed concrete barriers (installed not long ago to hold back the up-to-60 degree angle banks) into the road. An estimate of £4 million has been mentioned to make the banks and the road safe in the future.
